Locket Lover

To state the obvious, it is Friday.
I am lousy and tired at this point.

Yesterday we met with Sheela from Miel y Leche bakery.
The objective: to taste some cupcakes for the sake of the wedding.
Not only were the cupcakes absolutely mind blowing, but Sheela is probably the coolest person in the world. Immediately she makes you feel like you are her best friend. Everything is silly and fun. I don't think we could have asked for a more awesome cupcake provider. Surprisingly, we did actually choose which flavors we would like. Lemon Lavender and Cherry Almond were the winners. We will probably have an amazing grooms cake from her as well. So perfect.tell me those cupcakes don't make you drool.

Today I had an interview in Brooklyn Center for a night audit/day shift worker at the AmericInn up there. It went pretty well, I would say. I actually got asked what animal I would choose to be if I could. Of course, you must wonder what I chose. A goose, because then I could leave the cold and head somewhere warmer. Silly me. Silly goose.

Tomorrow, I am going to take Anna, Mikes sister dress shopping to try different bridesmaid dresses on. I am nervous that I won't have enough to say, but I hope we have fun. I need to make some calls and see who has the best selection of dessy group dresses. Maybe some lunch together too. I just want to be a cool big sister. I love this family.

Still have a lot of stuff on my plate right now. I am just trying to take it one thing at a time. It is really the only way to do it I suppose.

These last few days have been interesting. Just to be safe we have starting looking for locations once more. Ahh... I thought we were done.

Get this: we may even change the date.
It really isn't a huge deal, just pushing it over the Sunday, June 27th.
This could save us a ton of money just for having it on a Sunday.
We may even be able to keep this wedding under $5,000.

As much as we love Summit Manor, the fact that they are only able to do full events on Saturdays really inhibits us. Sundays they say could probably be workable for a brunch sort of occasion, but I can't see anyone wanting bunch at 7pm. And so the search continues.

This is probably the most nerve-racking part about this wedding, finding a nice location that is as cheap, yet classy, to get married at. My stomach has been in knots and my neck broke out. Yeah, my neck, and this has never happened before. So I going to spend a good hour looking for possible venues.

I will also try to figure out our save the dates for the most part. That probably won't get done until we have decided which day we are actually going to get married. I can't really see the big deal with changing it. It may even work better for some.

Your Love Today, Tomorrow the World

As many of you know,
I am getting married in June of this year.

Rather than ramble about it on FB, twitter and whatnot I have decided to create a blog.
Not only will I be rambling about wedding planning but also about the daily happenings that not everybody wants to, or needs to, read about.
I will stick to this blog, unlike the others I have lost along the way.

And so we begin:
I am a list maker. I have a list or document for almost everything. I tend to get made fun of by Michael when we clean up the room and he finds 20 lists from the last week. I have one list that I know I need; the wedding checklist. I have it printed and taped on the wall beside the computer. Right now we are behind schedule. January is our catch-up month. Shall I give you the low down on everything thus far?

Guest list: almost complete. Considering how many family members are on it, it is surprisingly not as massive as I imagined. We just need to go over it a few more times and see if we have everyone we would like to join us listed.

Ceremony/Reception site: We know where we would like to have it. It would all be at Summit Manor in St. Paul. One issue. We were hoping to have a dessert and cocktail reception as to lower the costs. They only do full events with catering and all that jazz unless we were to move the date to Sunday. We love it there so much but it would be about $4,000 more just to feed everyone and keep our date. This is all being discussed and considered. Just need a few more weeks.

Cake: We are meeting up with Sheela of Miel y Leche catering to try cupcakes on Thursday. My heart is pretty set on her work. Tell me her cupcakes don't sound absolutely stunning.

Florists: We are going to skip this step and make our own. Farmers Market flowers are the way to go. Starting this spring we are going to begin practice sessions on creating bouquets and boutonnieres. It looks like we will be saving around $2,000 this way.

Photography: We have signed a contract with Melissa Lyn Portraits. We are so excited to have such an awesome photographer for our wedding.

Save the dates: Ahhh these suckers will be finished by the end of the month and sent. :fingers crossed: We are going to try to create a dvd save the date. Just the fact that we have a ridiculously slow computer always scares me away from starting it.

Invitations: One of our closest friends, Micah, is not going to be around for our wedding. We still wanted to have him be a part of the wedding and we asked him if he would like to create the invitations. He has agreed and the photos are amazing. We just need a little touch-up and to figure out how we are going to format the invitations.

Wedding dress: Yes I have it. It is a Watter's Bride dress. Feel free to guess which one out of the hundreds on their site but I will say no more.

Ring: I received a very beautiful ring from Michael in December of 2008. It was an antique store find with five sapphires on a very high silver setting. I must be more clumsy than I imagined because I have lost two of the sapphires on either side. We took the ring to a jeweler and found that it would be more worthwhile to design a new ring with what we had. We are going to get a cushion cut moissanite stone for the center with a sapphire on each side and a channel setting in the band which will either be silver or white gold. We are working with Jay F Jeweler to create a custom vintage style ring. I should have more details about it in a week.

So right now, things have been running along smoothly. I have had my hours cut since the holiday season is over. Picking up more shifts when I can and cross-training will certainly be helpful. In a week I will be an unseasonal employee. I plan to work with Target for awhile. Still I am looking for a second job. I need to save as much as possible for this wedding. Even donating plasma has crossed my mind a few times.

That is my brief summary of all that has been going on.
There is definitely a ton of stuff to talk about.

I wish you all well.
